Our Solution

The Intake Initiative is a trauma-informed, pre-incarceration, incarceration, and post incarceration program that equips individuals with the tools to be successful and enter prison with resilience. As a justice reform nonprofit, we provide comprehensive incarceration support for participants and their families, ensuring that participants are prepared for the challenges ahead.

The Intake Initiative is pioneering a model that has never been implemented in the United States: a trauma‑informed, family‑centered pre‑incarceration preparation program that continues through confinement and reentry. Through this initiative we can strengthen families, reduce harm, and create pathways to long‑term stability and opportunity.

We offer:

- Behavioral readiness training to reduce fear and impulsivity

- Identity-building workshops to foster self-worth and purpose

- Education on prison dynamics to demystify gang tactics

- Coping strategies rooted in emotional regulation and trauma recovery

For our participants, we are there with them through their journey, offering support during incarceration and valuable resources upon release, including guidance on parenting from prison and reentry support.
